California’s Central Coast is rife with wineries. But for those of us who are not fans of wine, there are still unique ways to learn about food and beverages manufactured and grown in the central Coast.
Friday, as part of a team building experience we made our way to Kiler Ridge Olive Farm. It was a great learning session, both about the state of the country’s olive oil industry, California’s olive oil farms.
I look forward to returning to Kiler Ridge, perhaps during their harvest season, said to be in November, to see some of the processing in action.
Oh, and to pick up some of that delicious Olive Oil.

This little Canon Powershot s110 is super-pocketable, but a super performer from the few images I’ve made from it. Very pleased to have a camera with me at all times that gives me more flexibility and low light possibilities than my smartphone which always disappoints.
Fisher Ground Squirrels are literally everywhere in Bakersfield, especially in the parks along the Kern River Parkway. I took some snaps on my lunch break, including a shaky video. Even if Dave Barry thinks squirrels will be the downfall of man, they sure can be cute when they aren’t destroying your park.
Went on a walk today with my camera. Wandering alone on my lunch break provides a bit of time to reflect and see the world around me.
